The Laboratory

Facilities

Our laboratory provides state-of-the-art technological infrastructure and services for researchers and participants, facilitating cutting-edge studies in decision-making and behavioral sciences. Our location ensures convenient access for participants.

ELFE features 33 workstations, each separated to ensure privacy. The lab is also equipped 10 eye-tracking devices. This unique configuration allows the simultaneous recording of actions and supports group interaction experiments.

Recruitment, Assistance, and Payment Services

ELFE handles participant recruitment and payments, offering a comprehensive service for running experiments. We operate on lab.run, enabling us to conduct both offline and online experiments with our participant pool. Our recruitment system uses round-robin handling for notifications: participants are emailed in a sequence where each is notified before any participant is emailed again. This ensures a fair distribution of announcements.
Additionally, we can host experiments on both internal and external servers, catering to large recruitment platforms as needed. We assist researchers with their research needs and provide access to a large pool of Prolific workers for online experimental research.

Our People

UCL ELFE has an outstanding research group, with 6 affiliated faculty members and a professional laboratory manager.
Our research employs experimental economics methods to test and inspire economic theories. Heir to a long tradition of experimental research at the UCL Department of Economics, UCL ELFE was created thanks to the efforts of Ken Binmore, Andrew Chesher and David Ulph in 1995.
